Registries

The directories that catalog ontologies.

A registry (or portal) is not an ontology - it is a directory of ontologies, usually with search, browse, and cross-ontology mappings on top. We keep registries out of the main Atlas search on purpose: mixing them with the ontologies they list is confusing. Here is the reference list.

What a registry actually is

Each entry below is a website that catalogs many ontologies. BioPortal lists 800+ biomedical ontologies. OBO Foundry curates 265 interoperable life-science ontologies. Linked Open Vocabularies indexes ~700 general-purpose RDF vocabularies. If you cannot find an ontology in the Atlas search, one of these portals is where to look next.

The Atlas holds the ontologies themselves - search 300+ vocabularies, taxonomies and knowledge models across every domain.
